DAY 8: Sweet Sounds of ‘Parang Music’
The traditional sound at Christmas festivities. Originating from the ‘cocoa estates’ of our history, the word originates from ‘paranda’ meaning merry making. It is common, on Christmas morning, to see pickup trucks filled with bands of singers and musicians who play the guitar, mandolin, cuatro, violin, tambourine and more travelling through the neighborhoods ‘paranging’ or caroling.
